Understanding Kaiya's Activity Strip

While Kaiya is working on your request, an activity strip appears as part of the reply. It shows exactly what Kaiya is doing in real time - what it is thinking about, which searches it is running, which pages it is reading and which documents it is producing.

The activity strip is your main source of transparency into Kaiya's work. The goal is more confidence, not more complexity.

What you see​

The activity strip shows two kinds of entries:

  • Reasoning steps - a short summary of what Kaiya is thinking about or planning to do next
  • Tool activity - the concrete actions Kaiya is taking, for example web searches, web page reads, LinkedIn searches, Invenias searches, document and spreadsheet preparation

Each entry has a status indicator so you can tell at a glance what has completed, what is in progress and what failed.

A typical flow​

For a candidate-search task you might see something like this:

  1. Thinking about where the strongest candidates are likely to sit
  2. Searching the web
  3. Reading a web page
  4. Cross-checking public signals against likely search channels
  5. Searching LinkedIn
  6. Searching Invenias
  7. Preparing a clean shortlist and supporting output
  8. Preparing a Word document

For research you might see:

  1. Planning the research
  2. Searching the web for recent coverage
  3. Reading the company website
  4. Reading an annual report
  5. Checking leadership team
  6. Writing up findings with citations

How to use it​

  • Follow the reasoning. If Kaiya is going in the wrong direction, redirect Kaiya for the next turn.
  • Spot missed sources. If you know a source Kaiya should check, mention it and Kaiya will pick it up on the next pass.
  • Understand citations. If something looks surprising in the final reply, open the activity strip to see which pages Kaiya actually read.
  • Gauge effort. If the activity looks thin for an ambiguous task, consider raising the effort level to Thinking or Deep Thinking. See Choosing Kaiya's Effort Level.
